Waterproof Cable Glands — Factory-Direct Supply, CE & RoHS Certified

When you’re installing cables outdoors, in wet environments, or anywhere moisture is a real risk, a standard gland simply won’t hold its seal long-term. Our waterproof cable glands are built for exactly those conditions — each one tested to IEC 60529 on every production batch to confirm its rated IP level, so you’re not relying on a design claim that was only ever verified on a sample unit.

We are a waterproof cable gland manufacturer and global supplier based in Yueqing, Zhejiang, China — supplying distributors, wholesalers, and OEM partners across 50+ countries directly from our factory. Whether you need a mixed sample order or a full bulk supply arrangement, we’ll have the right gland with the certifications and documentation to match.

What is a Waterproof Cable Entry Gland

A waterproof cable gland — sometimes called a watertight cable gland or weatherproof cable gland — is a cable entry fitting specifically designed to seal against the ingress of water, moisture, and dust. Unlike a standard gland, which provides strain relief and basic cable retention, a waterproof gland incorporates an internal compression seal — typically EPDM or NBR elastomer — that forms a tight seal around the cable sheath when the gland is tightened. This is what gives it its IP rating under IEC 60529, and what makes it suitable for outdoor, marine, solar, and industrial wet-area installations. In addition to waterproofing, each gland provides mechanical strain relief — protecting the cable connection from pull-out, vibration, and movement.”

How to Choose the Right Waterproof Cable Gland

Specifying the wrong gland for your environment is one of the most common causes of early enclosure failure — and it’s easy to avoid if you know what to look for. Here are the five things we’d ask you to confirm before placing an order.

Know your IP requirement

IP65 for outdoor/rain, IP66 for wash-down, IP67 for temporary immersion, IP68 for continuous submersion. When in doubt, go higher — most of our standard range is IP68 at no extra cost.

Choose your material

Brass for general industrial and outdoor use. Nylon PA66 for solar, lightweight, or UV-exposed applications. 316 stainless steel for marine, offshore, or chemical environments.

Confirm your thread standard

PG for Europe and Asia, metric for global ISO installations, NPT for the US and Canada. Always match the thread to your enclosure — a PG16 will not fit an M16 hole.

Match cable OD to the gland's entry range

Your cable’s outer diameter must fall within the gland’s stated cable entry range. Too small and the seal won’t compress; too large and the cable won’t pass through. Measure — don’t estimate.

Check your certification requirements

CE and RoHS cover most applications — our full waterproof range carries both. For hazardous area installations (Zone 1/2), you’ll need ATEX or IECEx — see our explosion-proof range for that.

Where Our Waterproof Cable Glands Are Used

You’ll find our waterproof cable glands across a wide range of industries and environments. Here are the most common applications we supply into — and what we’d typically recommend for each.

01

Solar PV & Renewable Energy

UV-stabilised nylon IP68 in M20 or PG16 — handles years of UV exposure, thermal cycling, and rain. Our most popular spec for solar EPC contractors and installers, fully RoHS-compliant.

02

Marine & Offshore

316 stainless steel IP68 for continuous salt air, spray, and vibration. Brass IP68 for less severe marine applications. IEC 60092-compliant variants available in our marine cable gland range.

03

Outdoor Industrial

Brass or nylon IP68 for switchgear, distribution boards, street lighting, and utility enclosures. We supply in bulk with full CE/RoHS documentation as standard.

04

Food & Beverage

316 stainless steel IP66/IP67 for wash-down environments and chemical cleaning. Standard specification in most food processing plant installations.

05

Submersible & Buried

IP68 required — not IP67. Our submersible cable glands are rated for continuous immersion beyond 1 metre, used in submersible pumps, underwater lighting, and buried junction boxes.

06

Building & Construction

Brass or nylon IP65/IP66 for external lighting, façade wiring, and plant room enclosures. Available in bulk with mixed sizes on a single order.

Questions We Get Asked About Waterproof Cable Glands

Common questions from distributors, OEM buyers, and electrical engineers sourcing cable glands from Difvan.
What is the difference between IP67 and IP68 cable glands?
IP67 means the gland is protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. IP68 means continuous immersion beyond 1 metre — the depth and duration are defined by the manufacturer in the product specification. For most outdoor, marine, and industrial applications, IP67 is sufficient. You only need IP68 when there is a genuine risk of prolonged or deep submersion — underwater equipment, buried installations, or submersible pump systems. Since most of our standard waterproof cable glands are rated IP68 as a minimum, you’re covered either way.

Yes — waterproof cable glands work with unarmoured cables, armoured cables, and flexible cables, as long as the cable’s outer diameter falls within the gland’s stated cable entry range. For armoured cables (SWA), you’ll need our armoured waterproof variant, which provides double compression to seal against both the outer sheath and the armour layer. If you’re not sure which variant suits your cable construction, send us the cable spec and we’ll confirm.

We are the manufacturer — everything we sell is produced in our own factory in Yueqing, Zhejiang, China. We are not a trading company or agent. This matters to bulk buyers and wholesale distributors because it means lower prices, full control over production quality, and the ability to provide original manufacturer certifications — not third-party re-issued documents. If you need to verify our factory before placing an order, we can arrange a video call, share our ISO 9001 documentation, or connect you with one of our existing distributor references.
In most installations, no. A correctly sized and properly installed waterproof cable gland with an EPDM or NBR seal should perform reliably for the life of the installation without intervention. That said, it’s good practice to inspect glands in extreme environments — prolonged UV exposure, chemical contact, or wide temperature cycling — every few years, as elastomer seals can degrade over time. If you see cracking or deformation on the seal, replace the gland rather than just the seal insert.
Yes — we offer wholesale pricing for distributors, wholesalers, and repeat bulk buyers. Pricing is tiered by quantity — the more you order, the better the unit price. Send us your required sizes, quantities, and target price and our team will respond with a factory-direct quote within 24 hours. We can also set up standing supply arrangements for ongoing project requirements.
For standard catalogue sizes, lead time is typically 7–15 working days for most bulk orders depending on quantity. For OEM or custom specification orders, lead time is confirmed at the quotation stage after sample approval. We’ll always give you a confirmed production and shipping date before you commit — no vague estimates. If you need faster delivery, ask us about available stock when you enquire.

Yes — we regularly supply mixed bulk orders across multiple sizes and materials in a single shipment. This is common for infrastructure projects, electrical contractors, and distributors who need a range of PG, metric, and NPT sizes together. Send us your full bill of materials and we’ll quote the complete order at once — no need to place separate orders per size.
